Photo Credit: Raymond Seamans The Maple Grove Campground was a religious retreat located near Cains Pond in Searsport in the early 1900's The “campground” had a hotel, a meeting hall and several small family size buildings. People came from all around, often by horse and buggy, to hear local as well as traveling preachers. At the end of the week on “Big Sunday” people were often baptized in Cains Pond. The “campground” succumbed to fire and what was not burned fell to disrepair and no long exist. |
